Arpan Poverty Alleviation (APA), Kathmandu is a non-governmental, non-political, and non-profit making members based social development organization registered in District Administration Office, Kathmandu (Reg.#867/2015) under Organizational Registration Act, 2034 in 2072 B.S. It is affiliated with the Social Welfare Council, Kathmandu, Nepal (Reg.#41364) in 2072 B.S. It has been registered in Internal Revenue Office Kathmandu, Nepal (Reg.#603397699). It has clear mandate to receive funds from national and international support organizations for the purely community and human resource development.
From the date of its establishment, the organization has been actively engaged in social mobilization, community empowerment and development adopting issues and right based approaches. It has clearly defined primary focus groups which are from socially, economically, culturally and politically deprived and disadvantaged communities.
Poverty itself is a complicated phenomenon which is directly or indirectly related with the other phenomenon of the communities. People have been staying with the same community for years but they have not felt any lacking points in their communities however, they are not satisfied whatever they have with them. On the other hand, the society is always divisible in the sense that the so called clever and rich people always rule on the poor and marginalized one as a result the suppressed group never raise their head in front of the stronger one. These marginalized group or suppressed group are called poor ones who are supposed to be supported by all the other mechanism of the society but they always feel the second class citizen within the country.
The organization was established to reduce the poverty and minimize the causes of poverty in the society mobilizing the marginalized communities’ people through assessing the local resources at the best level as it can. The people are not poor by fate rather they are separated from use of resources and the illiteracy level always makes them feel satisfied whatever they have. The organization has been trying to search out the vivid causes of the poverty with sustainable respective solutions.
The organization has efficient, dedicated, competent, visionary, and dynamic leadership. The executive committee comprises nine members to execute authorities through decision making and devising policies. The organization has owned self-oriented and decisive powered working staff with sufficient experience and qualification who work centering the communities at the top.

- To design and implement the environmental conservation, promotion and plantation focused programs for environmental sustainability
- To implement education, health, transportation, water, sanitation and hygienic, alternative energy, agriculture, drainage, road, bridge management related infra-structure development projects

- To provide relief and assistance to support the victims of natural disasters
- To implement programs to reduce maternal and child mortality rate
- To design programs to foster and conserve small and domestic cottage industries
